A big THANK YOU to all who donated today!!!

Well, the first day of one fundraising has passed and it is not without some hiccups and speed bumps but no matter what, we seriously want to thank everybody who donated and showed much trust and support.

To keep everybody updated and informed of what happened, basically its simple, the word 'policy' came into the picture BIG time. To keep it short and simple, we're just not allowed to do it 'publicly' in the office and to use the corporate emails to spread the word so that's that.

Due to that, we just have to work and think harder to get one registered officially and to find a way to enable people to donate and contribute conveniently.

Lastly, just to let y'all know, we didn't count how much we managed to collect today and that the awesome milk bottle with the funds still inside is now kept with Mei Ling in a very very safe place. Even though, the amount doesn't look like much but we're still very encouraged and will continue to work for it.

Thanks again to everybody for the support!!!

1st of June 2009

Since 1st of June 2009 will be the first fundraising day for one, its only appropriate that it should be the official start date of the project.

And since the mission of one is to reduce poverty and hunger, the 1st coinbox ('tabung') we'll be using will match the theme of the mission (think hunger, feed) and it might look a bit funny but please bear with us as we couldn't find the square ones which can be locked after looking around in most places we can think of and we're starting to think that we might have to custom order it or something like that.

So as the 1st of June approaches, lets all hope it will be a good kickstart to the project!!!

Status of the project

Just to everybody updated about the current status of the project one.

Firstly, this is a new blog dedicated to this project and if anybody should be interested in checking out the old blog, it can be found here (http://liquidator13.blogspot.com).

Secondly, just to inform everybody of the current group of volunteers behind this project and they are (in no particular order):
James
Sherlene
Li Sham
Yong
Mei Ling

Thirdly, as we've not registered this project as an official non-profit organisation yet, we're really relying, hoping and counting on one thing, one word... trust. Trust amongst fellow colleagues and friends that something good will really come out of your contribution of RM1.

Fourthly, as mentioned above, we have not registered this project as a non-profit organisation yet and we're still in the midst of trying to find out how to do it so hopefully we can get it done as soon as possible and then we can really go public and involve even more people

Last but not least, a lot of people have been asking us regarding what our mission is and its basically to help reduce poverty and hunger as well as helping people in need with the funds we raise. Also, it is also to create an awareness amongst people that indeed one can make a difference.

one

Project name: "one"

Objective: To raise funds for charity

Mission: To help reduce poverty and hunger as well as people in need

How to do it: Collect RM1 on the 1st of every month

Why: What is RM1 nowadays? What can you get with RM1? An ice cream? A drink? Pay toll? Pay parking? Nothing much, right? And... what is RM1 a month? Seriously its not much to you or to me but it could be a lot to people in need. So, my idea/ proposal is simple, if just a single person in a company, organisation, community, family, group, town, city, state, country or even continent donates RM1 to charity then it wouldn't mean much, as a matter of fact, it won't even mean or do anything but IF, let's say ten, a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand, a hundred thousand or even a million people should do it, imagine what RM1 can do...

Scope: Friends and family (and then the world!!!)

What needs to be done beforehand: Compose email regarding project and mass email to friends and family, prepare coinbox (tabung), posters (if needed) and form to collect email address from people who donates, form a committee, design logo, open bank account, register as non-profit organisation

What needs to be done during: Collect email address (basically to keep the people who donates informed about what we do with the funds and so on so forth)

What needs to be done afterwards: Find charities to donate to, prepare reports on what the money has been used for (accounts) and email to everybody who donated
